61/27 Avenue of the Saints
S.M.A.R.T. representatives, MoDOT and Missouri State Representative Brian Munzlinger, hosted a threefold event Wednesday, September 21 at the Canton Comfort Inn as an update to activity occurring along Route 61. The event featured the unveiling of a new sign designating a section of Route 61 Avenue of the Saints between LaGrange and Canton as the S.M.A.R.T. Memorial Highway.
Immediately following the ceremony, participants were invited to learn about the various phases of construction on the final section of Route 61 in Lewis County, and ask questions of MoDOT staff. Archeologists who have been working on the site where the new highway will be built had displays and photos of artifacts found at the excavation. They were available to answer questions as well.
