Online Meeting: Improving 14 Bridges on I-70
How Can You Minimize the Impact?
Know what bridges are being repaired. The web, KC Scout, local news and a variety of sources can keep you updated about the level of congestion and which of the two lanes are open. Knowledge is power, and you can plan better if you know what's happening. Sign up in one of these ways for more information: KC Scout, E-updates, Facebook, Twitter, or I-70 webpage.
Drive safely. An accident creates an additional delay that can add an hour or more to a commute. More importantly, it can cost dollars, your health, or your life. Don't rush or drive aggressively. It is not worth the risk. Click here for more tips on driving in a work zone.
Plan ahead. Know where the construction slow downs will occur and add time to your travel schedule. Nothing is worse than facing congestion and slow downs when you are already running late.
Take a different route. There are a variety of ways to get anywhere in the city. Know what bridges are restricted and find an alternative route.
Change your driving time. Even altering your drive time by a half-hour or hour can make a difference. If you frequently drive this route, see if you can work earlier or later or from another location.
