In 2011, MoDOT will improve more than 70 bridges in Platte, Clay, Ray, Jackson, Lafayette, Cass, Johnson and Henry counties, the eight counties that comprise District 4.

The primary focus of Safe & Sound is to improve bridges that are in poor condition. This innovative approach allows MoDOT to improve these bridges quicker than through traditional means. One of the critical components of this program is closing the bridges during repair or replacement. Closures typically last 30 to 60 days, and allow the contractor to quickly and safely do the work.
