What are the current conditions?

Existing traffic volumes within the Route 45 corridor range from 7,000 vehicles per day on the west end to 18,000 on the east end.  These existing traffic volumes in turn lead to high-levels of congestion at several intersections.

Anticipated growth within the area will increase the traffic volume on existing Route 45 to approximately 53,000 vehicles by the year 2030.

The accident rate along Route 45 is 26 percent higher than the state average for similar corridors within the state.

With these statistics, it is apparent that a solution to handle higher traffic volume is necessary.
