Traffic Impacts

During construction this bridge will be closed to be demolished and replaced. The bridge will close in the spring, as early as April.

Once closed, the contractor has 95 calendar days, or about 3 months, to complete the project. The contractor will be penalized for keeping it closed any longer than 95 days.

I-29 will be closed for one weekend for bridge demolition.  Motorists will be diverted to the on and off-ramps at Route HH to detour around the closure.

While the bridge is being rebuilt, there will be minimal lane closures on I-29 to complete work. However, all lanes on I-29 must remain open from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

During the three months the bridge is closed, motorists will have to use detours to reach each side of the bridge. Northbound traffic will be detoured to Route 273/371 (Exit 20 ).  Southbound traffic will be detoured to Route 92 (Exit 18).
