Online Meeting: Route 50 and Bynum Road
Bynum Road: The Problem
Eastbound Route 50 connects to Route 150 by way of entrance and exit ramps, and Route 150 is separated by an overpass from eastbound Route 50. However, on the westbound Route 50 side, the two highways connect at grade, with a stop sign controlling Route 150 and Bynum Road traffic, while westbound Route 50 traffic is alerted to cross traffic by a flashing yellow light. Several severe accidents and fatalities have occurred at or near this intersection.
The Solution
MoDOT will complete a full-diamond interchange to accommodate westbound Route 50 with ramps and a new bridge to carry Bynum Road/Route 150 traffic over the highway.
Adding a bridge and ramps on westbound Route 50 at Bynum brings the crossroads to modern interchange standards and provides safer local access in all directions. Existing crossover locations within the project limits will be removed to enhance safety for both eastbound and westbound Route 50 motorists.
