Job Summary:
The senior
airport inspector provides support to cities and counties
in the development or improvement of airport equipment and facilities,
and conducts airport inspections; updates Airport Master Record;
may pilot aircraft. This position is governed by Federal Aviation
Administration and state directives. Responsibilities are performed
under moderate supervision.
Knowledge
of airport facilities and equipment as might be acquired through
a bachelor's degree in aviation technology, aviation management,
or related discipline. Twelve
months of experience with the department in positions relating
to airport inspection or 24 months of experience outside the department
in comparable positions.
Special Working
Conditions/Job Characteristics:
Job
requires thorough knowledge of federal regulations, advisory circulars,
and other publications pertaining to airports and airport development.
A
pilot's license is preferred.
Job
requires regular, statewide, overnight travel.
