The
clerk provides support to office and field
personnel in basic clerical operations such as typing correspondence,
updating mailing lists, and answering routine inquiries.
This position is governed by office and accounting manuals.
Responsibilities are performed under direct supervision.
Knowledge
to read, write, and perform clerical processes such as typing
and/or word processing which might be acquired through high
school graduation. Ability to input data into desktop computer
and generate routine reports.
The intermediate clerk prepares reports
and forms, processes documents, maintains records, and performs
other clerical duties. The position is governed by office
and accounting manuals and department policies and procedures.
Responsibilities are performed under moderate supervision.
Ability
to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations as
might be acquired through graduation from high school.
Six
months of experience with the department in general clerical
positions or 12 months of experience outside the department
in comparable positions. Ability to input data into computer
and generate routine reports.
The senior clerk tabulates data, prepares
reports, processes documents, maintains records, and performs
other clerical and administrative duties. The position
is governed by office and accounting manuals and department
policies and procedures. Responsibilities are performed
under moderate supervision.
Ability
to read, write, and perform mathematical calculations as
might be acquired through graduation from high school.
One
year of experience with the department in general clerical
positions or two years of experience outside the department
in comparable positions. Ability to prepare and generate
computer reports.
Special Working Conditions/Job Characteristics:
If in General Services, may be required to operate fork
lift.
Occasional
heavy lifting may be required
Advanced
working knowledge of Microsoft Office 2000 applications
(Word, Excel, Access, Project) preferred.
Excellent
typing skills required.
Good
communication skills required for answering telephone and
greeting office visitors.
