The Missouri Department of Transportation Central District has funding available for projects that enhance Missouri’s transportation system. Local nonprofit and government agencies in mid-Missouri have until Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010 to apply for the funding.
The federal funds are designated for community-based projects that enhance the transportation experience by improving cultural, historic, aesthetic, and environmental aspects of transportation infrastructure.
Eligible projects can include bicycle and pedestrian facilities, streetscape improvements, or other projects that improve the community’s transportation experience. Funds cannot be used for highway construction. Additional details about eligible projects can be found on www.enhancements.org.
MoDOT’s Central District includes Benton, Boone, Camden, Callaway, Cole, Cooper, Gasconade, Maries, Miller, Moniteau, Morgan, Osage, and Pettis Counties. Projects must be “construction ready,” meaning final plans, specifications, and estimate approvals must be complete by Oct. 1, 2011.
Approximately $2.6 million is available to communities.
